Lecturers: Dr. Zhang Dongsheng from Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources

Introduction to the lecturers: Dr. Zhang mainly engaged in the study of deep-sea biodiversity, phylogeny and biogeography, molecular ecology, environmental protection. Since 2016, he has served as the deputy secretary-general of the Benthic Biology Society of the Chinese Society Oceanography and Limnology. In 2019, he was selected as the third level of advanced scientific and technological innovation talents of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Dr. Zhang has experiences of participating field trips to survey in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and was the Chief Scientist of Cruise DY61 in 2020 to survey biodiversity of seamounts in the Northwest Pacific Ocean. In recent years, he has carried out research on biodiversity and taxonomy of Ophiuroidea, as well as phylogeny and evolution.He also worked on community structure and distribution pattern of benthos from deep-sea ecosystem.
